VANI KRAVARI – MIKROPRAGMATA

“It’s not the Maldives, it’s not Mars,” simply a video making the beauties of Greece go viral.

The comment section of a completely viral Instagram video filled up with comments from Greek users thanking the creator for this top-tier advertisement of their country. And the truth is, the person who made the video had an extreme stroke of luck compared to those in charge of Greece’s tourism promotion.

A short but impressive video about Greece has gained nearly 15,000 likes on Instagram. In it, some of the country’s most stunning spots are compared to some of the world’s top destinations. Nemea, Chania, Rethymno, Lake Kerkini, Kalavryta, Preveza, Grammos, Nisyros, and other beautiful places are likened to Tuscany, the Maldives, Bolivia, Canada, and even the Himalayas.

The truth is, it went viral for a good reason.

The comments are going wild.

“Guys, no matter how many times I’ve watched it, I can’t get enough of it,” writes one user. Other comments include: “Honestly, I didn’t expect this. Greece looks so different from what I imagined.” (Maybe because it’s finally not associated with the blue and white of the Cyclades and mustached, picturesque islanders), “Wow, do we have all of this in Greece? Where am I living?” Another user wrote: “Why doesn’t the Ministry of Tourism pay you exclusively and generously? I’m making a suggestion, even if I never get heard,” tagging Olga Kefalogianni.

Behind the viral video and the @farawayfarers page are Konstantinos Pappas and Maritina Laskaridou, photographers and collaborators, whose accounts are the definition of travel inspiration.
